72nd Boris Hanžeković Memorial: World’s Top Athletes in Zagreb
The Boris Hanžeković Memorial is the oldest sports event in Croatia which is announced to provide novelties but also many athletic thrills this year. World’s top athletes are on their way to visit Zagreb!
The Boris Hanžeković Memorial, which has been organised for 72 consecutive years, will welcome many of the best athletes in the world this year once again. Between 9 and 11 September, Zagreb will become a city marked by athletics, especially at three city locations. This is the first time that the competitions will take place in the main Ban Josip Jelačić Square. This is where Zagreb City Challenge will be organised at 5 PM on the first day of the Memorial, and where men and women will compete in pole vault, triple jump and long jump. It will be an excellent sporting event but also a spectacle to bring additional glow to the excellent atmosphere in the city centre.
On the second day, shot putters will compete in the area of Zagreb fountains, which is a location known for competitions among athletes for as many as eight years.
On the last day, competitions in the disciplines of running, high jump and javelin and discus throw will take place at Mladost Stadium. It should be noted that the Memorial organizers have not forgotten young participants who will be welcomed by the Kids’ Day on 10 September in Maksimir Park.
Many top athletes in the world confirmed their participation in the 72nd Boris Hanžeković Memorial, which was named after one of the best Croatian athletes.
Therefore, this spectacle and a sporting event is eagerly awaited in Zagreb this year which is bound to be remembered again for new records, excellent spirit of competition and great atmosphere.
