Festival of St. Mark: Excellent Experience for Music Lovers
For a quarter of century, the Festival of St. Mark has gathered musician who celebrate life and art with excellent concerts.
For 25 years, music lovers have had an opportunity to enjoy a varied music programme held in concert halls and churches of the Upper and Lower Town in Zagreb during April and May. This year the solemn opening of the Festival of St. Mark will take place on 23 April with a performance of the internationally acclaimed Academic Choir Collegium Musicum from Belgrade. The concert conducted by Dragana Jovanović will be held in the Upper Town Revival Stateroom of the National Hall of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts.
A concert of world-renowned artists, a cellist Monika Leskovar and pianist Martina Filjak, has been scheduled for 2 May at the Small Hall of the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall.
A concert by the famous Zagreb Quartet and baritone Krešimir Stražanac has been announced to take place on 16 May in the Greek Catholic Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius.
The final concert of this year’s Festival of St. Mark will take place on 18 May in the
Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall. This is a memorial concert for Maestro Vladimir Kranjčević, dedicated to the excellent musician, pianist, conductor and pedagogue who was the artistic director of the festival for years and who passed away in 2020. At the concert, Mozart’s Requiem in D Minor, K 626 will be performed by the Croatian Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra and Choir and soloists Marija Kuhar Šoša (soprano), Ivana Srbljan (mezzosoprano), Filip Filipović (tenor) and Krešimir Stražanac (baritone) and conducted by Tomislav Fačini.
