Artistic Gymnastics: Zagreb to Host European Championship in 2026

In August 2026 Zagreb will welcome the best European artistic gymnasts, proving that it meets all the requirements to host such grand events.

The Executive Committee of European Gymnastics unanimously awarded Zagreb the hosting rights for the European Artistic Gymnastics Championships, set to take place in August 2026. The responsibility of organising this two-week competition has been entrusted with the Croatian Gymnastics Federation.

The fact that Zagreb last hosted such an important and grand gymnastics gathering several decades ago makes this event even more significant. Namely, the World Cup in Artistic Gymnastics took place in Zagreb long ago, in 1982, while the Universiade took place in 1987.

What preceded the decision to give hosting rights for the European Championship to Zagreb is a comprehensive overview of athletic, accommodation and overall capabilities to organise such a significant sporting event. An event which is also certain to attract many spectators.
