10th Edition of Zagreb Design Week: The First Exhibition of AI Assisted Products
The question of the jubilant Zagreb Design Week is linked to artificial intelligence and it is the following: can it help designers and if yes, in what way?
The Zagreb Design Week, the largest Croatian festival dedicated to design, will celebrate its tenth jubilee with the largest event so far and with an eventful and interesting programme. The festival will take place from 26 September to 1 October at the Zagreb Fair, simultaneously with fairs dedicated to construction, equipping and interior decoration.
In addition, ten programmes belonging to the festival will be organised for citizens at as many locations in the city to mark the important jubilee of the Zagreb Design Week.
During the festival, the jubilee will be also celebrated with an exhibition which will show visitors the most important moments of the previous editions. However, the most attention of the general public as well as experts will be given to the main topic AI and I which focuses on the question which is increasingly asked: can artificial intelligence help designers, and if yes, how? The first exhibition of AI assisted products will get them closer to answering the question and also show various ways in which designers and artificial intelligence can cooperate. Pierre Webster, the head designer for the interior of the Croatian robotaxi, employed by the innovator and entrepreneur in car industry Mate Rimac, will talk about this topic in a panel discussion to be held on 29 September.
Another event held within the framework of the Zagreb Design Week that deserves mentioning is the Furniture Show, a large furniture fair in which around twenty carefully chosen exhibitors will show their work. Three new Croatian brands are to be presented to the global audience during the fair for the first time and some novelties in the Croatian market have also been announced.
On the first day of the festival, the best designs will be awarded. During six days of the festival, visitors will be able to see exhibitions organised by schools and faculties as well as fashion shows of young designers. A food design exhibition entitled All You Can Eat questioning the waste created by disposable cutlery will also attract visitors’ interest. Another interesting exhibition is entitled Local Beauty showing contemporary Bulgarian design which brings pieces of nine designers who reinterpreted traditional objects from various regions of their country.
A documentary entitled Dries about one of the greatest fashion designers of today, Belgian Dries Van Noten, will also be screened at the festival.
