A New Hotel: The First Croatian Mövenpick Opens in Zagreb
In early June, hotels in Zagreb have received an addition, the Mövenpick Zagreb. This marks the entry of the international hotel chain on the Croatian market.
The first Mövenpick hotel in Zagreb, whose opening marks the entry of this hotel chain on the Croatian market, is located in the business zone of Novi Zagreb city district, a mere ten-odd-minute drive from the airport and a twenty-minute drive from the city centre.
The newly opened hotel boasts modern architectural expression. Its decoration was inspired by world famous inventors, one of whom is Croatia-born Nikola Tesla. The hotel offers 104 rooms and suits with all the modern perks. Every unit provides a tailored experience to visitors and is named after a European or world city, whose stylised map displayed in the unit may inspire further trips.
A 120-seat conference hall, two smaller meeting rooms and multi-purpose private room Lounge 3328, named after the room in which Nikola Tesla stayed in the famous New Yorker hotel, are available to host business meetings but also other gatherings.
In line with the long-standing commitment of the Mövenpick brand, the hotel embraces an eco-friendly mindset and holistic approach to sustainability. For instance, bathroom cosmetics with plant-based ingredients and organic extracts is stored in refillable dispensers, thus limiting single-use plastic. Communication with visitors is planned to be paperless and they are also provided with charging stations for electric vehicles. Gastro offer of the hotel is marked by regional ingredients and Croatian-specific flavours. Also, with the arrival of the hotel chain, Mövenpick brand products also become available to citizens of Zagreb.
The brand, which originated in a revolutionary gastro concept created in Switzerland in 1948, today runs a hundred hotels and restaurants worldwide. Another fifty hotels are scheduled to open by 2025. Owing to the holistic approach to sustainability and dedication to local environment and community, since 2017 Green Globe has voted Mövenpick as the most sustainable hotel company in the world.
Mövenpick is part of Accor, world’s leading hospitality and hotelier business running more than 5300 facilities in more than 110 countries.
