Attractive Events throughout September

Many places in Zagreb County beckon you to visit them during the month of September and thus join the citizens of Zagreb of all ages who have already discovered the attractions of Samobor, Jastrebarsko and Sveta Nedelja, to mention but a few. Beautiful countryside and a good local cuisine are compelling enough reasons to visit any of them, but the offer does not stop at that. Samobor has already gained fame among visitors who flock to it by the thousands during the carnival festivities or the Samobor cream custard cake festival. From mid-September through mid-October, Samobor will again transform itself into a town of music. The 34th edition of the Samobor Autumn Music Festival will be dedicated to the former composer and mayor of Samobor, Ferdo Livadić, who successfully ran this picturesque town close to Zagreb in the 19th century. Concert lovers will again come into their own as the sounds of classical music start resonating through the naves of the Franciscan church and other locations across this picture-postcard pretty town.
Lovers of good wine will enjoy a visit to Jastrebarsko on one of “Dionysus’ evenings”, an event during which wine growers and wine makers of the Plešivica wine road will promote their produce. Different events will be held during the Jaska Wine Festivities to provide the town’s visitors with a glimpse of its culture and tradition, as well as its rich gastronomic offer.
Sveta Nedelja does not lag behind either. On September 5th the 10th Sveta Nedelja Fišijada will feature a competition to select a chef who can prepare the best fish paprikash. Nature lovers are cordially invited to join the traditional recreational hike across the rolling hills of Sveta Nedelja up to St. Mary Magdalene’s chapel in Mala Gorica. The title of the hike “After the seaside, one must to the hillside” leaves little choice – you simply have to come and find relaxation amidst the beautiful scenery in this corner of Zagreb County.
