City of Zagreb – Champion of Croatian Tourism 2018
At the Days of Croatian Tourism the City of Zagreb was named champion of Croatian tourism for this year. Zagreb is also the best city break destination; the hotel of the year is Hotel Esplanade which is also the best city hotel, while the Westin is the best conference hotel.
Zagreb is the champion of Croatian tourism for 2018! The award for the most successful tourist destination was handed to the Mayor of the City of Zagreb by Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković at the closing ceremony of this year’s Days of Croatian Tourism on Hvar island. That this award is well-earned is also confirmed by the fact that Zagreb is also the best city break destination in the country. Zagreb has, as was highlighted, worked year-round on creating new experiences and events for guests, as well as for locals, proving that inland destinations can also be exceptionally successful in tourism. Apart from the exceptional growth in tourist traffic from pre-season through summer and Advent, Zagreb is one of the few tourist locations in Croatia where this growth in popularity has been transformed into an enriched offering for visitors and locals. Hotel of the year is Zagreb’s Hotel Esplanade. The Esplanade is also the best city hotel, while the Zagreb Westin was named best conference hotel. The best tourism staff also received awards at the Days of Croatian Tourism. The Anton Štifanić annual award went to Josip Kufner of Zagreb who has turned on and off the gas lights in Gornji grad every day for 40 years.
