Exquisite delicacies in the heart of the city

Along with many indigenous dishes and specialties of ever-expanding global cuisines, the citizens of Zagreb and their guests can now taste exquisite delicacies from truffles, which are being sold at the recently opened store on Vlaška Street, in the heart of the city.

Just two hundred meters off the main city square, on Vlaška Street, there is an exclusive store named “Zigante Truffles” where one can sample specialties made from this costly delicacy. It is currently fresh, white truffle season so the shop proprietors have invited the public to try their exquisite specialties prepared with truffles, white as well as black. In the process, there is a lot to learn about this luxurious delicacy.

It is the only store of its kind in Zagreb, receiving daily deliveries of truffles from Istria, widely known as one of the richest regions in the world in terms of quality and size of the specimens of both kinds of truffle.
Apart from fresh truffles, the store also offers exquisite olive oil made with black and white truffles, various truffle cheeses, and an array of other, famous Istrian products containing this rare edible fungus, also reputed for being an excellent aphrodisiac. Besides truffle products, one can also find Istrian sausages, honey, and butter, as well as the famous Istrian rakia. The store also offers numerous other Istrian products such as fine olive oils, traditional pastas, superb wines, sparkling wines, liqueurs, and the famous Istrian rakias, Medica made of honey and Biska made of mistletoe.

All products can be tasted daily and those who would like to know more about truffles and traditional Istrian cuisine can talk to the shop employees or refer to the store’s new website, www.tartufi.hr.  Apart from general information about the aforementioned products, the website contains numerous pieces of advice, recipes, and other information concerning events relating to truffles, olive oil, wine, and other autochthonous Croatian products and customs.
