From Klović and Rembrandt, to Warhol and Picelj
Continuing the tradition of organizing large exhibitions, starting in early December and continuing into next year, the Museum of Arts and Crafts will host the exhibition “From Klović and Rembrandt, to Warhol and Picelj”. The exhibition will feature more than a thousand works by Croatian and foreign artists, which are part of the rich graphics collection of the National University Library.
A large exhibition, “From Klović and Rembrandt, to Warhol and Picelj”, will be opened at the Museum of Arts and Crafts on December 8th. The Museum of Arts and Crafts will use the project to mark the New Year with yet another interesting cultural event, which is certainly going to attract the attention of a large audience. The exhibition is being organized in cooperation with the National University Library, marking the 90th anniversary of the existence of its graphics collection, and it will remain open until the end of January 2010. Visitors will have an opportunity to view more than a thousand graphics by Croatian and foreign artists, which were created in the period between the 16th and the 20th centuries. Along with Rembrandt, whose remarkable graphic work could already be viewed at the Museum of Arts and Crafts in late December of last year, when an exhibition of 103 of his etchings was organized in cooperation with the Old Gallery of the National Joanneum Museum of Graz, visitors will now also be able to view many other works by various graphic masters. Among them is Croatian painter and miniaturist Julije Klović, who was in contact with many great Renaissance painters and was nicknamed “The Michelangelo of Miniature” for his talents. Nowadays, many of his miniatures and manuscript illuminations are carefully kept in museums worldwide.
