The 7th Human Rights Film Festival
The focus of this year’s 7th Human Rights Film Festival, which will take place between the 7th and the 13th of December at Zagreb’s Europa cinema, will be the struggle for social rights, which is the theme of most films included in the program.

This is also a contemporary topic because, due to the economic crisis, social rights are being systematically reduced or, in some countries, entirely abolished. The films that will be screened throughout the seven days of the festival deal primarily with these themes, but the audience will also have an opportunity to see an array of documentaries that broach the issues of violation, as well as promotion, of human rights.
According to announcements by the organizers, many films highlight human rights issues that are often overlooked or that may provoke a different reaction from various populations of other countries; what is considered brutal exploitation in some places, is sometimes elsewhere seen as an accepted form of social relations.
Apart from viewing films, which will thematically frame the overall human rights issues, the audience will also have an opportunity to participate in an array of lectures and discussions, as well as view exhibitions about related topics.
The Human Rights Film Festival is a non-profit project by two prominent Croatian independent culture organizations; the Multimedia Institute, and the Society for Cultural Promotion, which was founded in 2002 with a goal of raising awareness of human rights issues.
