WRC Croatia Rally: The Best Rally Drivers Return!
This is the second year that the best rally drivers will compete in Croatia. The Ceremonial start and Finish podium of the race, which spectators will be able to watch live, will be located in Zagreb.
In April this year, Zagreb and Croatia will host the World Rally Championship (WRC) for the second time, and welcome the best rally drivers in the world. There will be plenty of racing, adrenaline and commotion.
Croatia Rally, which became part of the calendar of the World Rally Championship, will take place from 21 to 24 April. This year, twenty special stages will take place in five Croatian counties, Zagreb County, Karlovac County, Krapina-Zagorje County, Varaždin County and Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, while the ceremonial start, finish podium and service park will be located in Zagreb. Unlike the previous year, this year the race will take place in front of a live audience. The organisers estimate that this great spectacle will be watched by around 350 thousand spectators from Europe and the world, located on the spot, as well as in fan zones and along the route. This would be a record – high number of spectators at any sporting event in Croatia. Since the new technical requirements entail the use of responsible and sustainable hybrid technology, with a reduction in harmful emissions, the WRC Croatia Rally spectators will also have a chance to experience the perks of technological innovations which are already in place.
Many surprises and interesting events are underway for the world’s best rally drivers as well as visitors.
The return of rally to Croatia occurred owing to the excellent setup of the last year’s event which was, let us be reminded, held in the challenging year marked by the pandemic. Despite restrictions, the organisers succeeded to put on quite a show, judging by the reviews of drivers, journalists, racing fans and other participants. Footage from Croatia was available in 150 countries, and more than 200 journalists reported on the competition. Images of the wonderful landscape and the capital, Zagreb, travelled the world.
