Zagreb Underground: Croatian Wines and Delicacies in Grič Tunnel

Famous Croatian wine makers, family farm owners and food producers will participate in the first oenological and gastro fair in a tunnel below ground level!

Zagreb Underground is the title of an oenological and gastro fair to take place from 12 to 14 April in an unusual location, below ground. It is a tunnel in the very city centre, which was built almost 80 years ago, during World War II and reopened to public in 2016. The tunnel is 350 metres long and in recent times several events have taken place in it during the Advent Zagreb festival. However, no gastro or oenological happenings which involve tasting opportunity have ever taken place there.

Therefore, Zagreb Underground is a step forward in the life of the renovated Grič Tunnel and certainly a completely new experience which is appealing to visitors in so many ways. The first Zagreb Underground is dedicated to Croatian wine regions from both inland and the coast. In addition to tasting of around two hundred premium wines, visitors will also have an opportunity to taste delicacies from Croatian family farms.

There is also a long list of other activities, such as exhibition of the future of wine making as seen by AI, a fun selfie corner, a prize competition and similar. In the central square of what will become the largest wine cellar in Croatia, with a total area of 3000 square metres, musicians and performers will entertain the crowds.

Visitors will enter the tunnel from Mesnička Street and walk in one direction, towards Radićeva Street. Recommended duration of their tour is three hours.

The tickets which include tasting wine and delicacies are available at www.eventim.hr
