Lado, one of the country's oldest national folk dance ensembles, celebrates its 60th anniversary this year. The group has become an ambassador of Croatia's artistic traditions on six continents.

Lado, one of the oldest Croatian national folk dance ensembles, has marked its  60th anniversary with a gala concert at the Croatian National Theater. During the past sixty years, the present-day Lado has grown into one of the most famous artistic ensembles in Croatia and has become an ambassador of Croatian artistic traditions around the world. The ensemble was founded on November 11, 1949. Its repertoire includes 150 choreographies from various Croatian regions and the group has at its disposal 1200 authentic national costumes, which makes it a sort of Croatian travelling museum.
Throughout its sixty years of work, the Lado ensemble has been made up of top class dancers and singers who have promoted the Croatian artistic traditions around the world. While touring around six continents Lado has appeared on all of the greatest world stages, including the Royal Albert Hall in London, City Center in New York, the Grand Amphitheater of the Sorbonne in Paris, the Mann Auditorium in Tel Aviv, the Sydney Town Hall, the Nakano Sun Plaza Hall in Tokyo, and many other famous concert halls. The appearances of the Lado ensemble are associated with the greatest cultural and touristic events in Croatia, as well as the marking of many important anniversaries throughout history.
Today the ensemble has 37 top class dancers and, at the same time, special singers who can easily transition from dancing to the folk choir, as well as 15 incredible musicians who play almost 50 traditional and classic instruments.
