The Festival of Malaysian Cuisine at the Sheraton

The 1st Malaysian Festival will be held between the 9th and the 15th of November at the Sheraton Zagreb Hotel and present the cultural features of this exotic land.

The festival is being organized by the Malaysian Embassy of Croatia with the intention to bring the Malaysian culture closer to the Croatian public. The event will feature a rich selection of Malaysian cuisine prepared by top-class chefs. There will also be an array of fashion shows and traditional Malaysian dance performances by various ethnic groups that live in Croatia. Culinary skills will be demonstrated by two famous Malaysian chefs who also work with the Sheraton franchise on the islands of Langkawi and Kuala Lumpur. Apart from fashion shows, with designs inspired by traditional Malaysian motifs, the Zagreb public will also have an opportunity to learn about batik, a special method of painting fabric with wax, which will be demonstrated by the famous designer, Kartini Ilias. The dance program will feature the famous group, Sri Bulan, from London, which will perform traditional Malaysian dances at the Sheraton Zagreb Hotel, as well as the Avenue Mall.
The festival, which will begin on November 9th and end on November 15th, will take place at the Fontana restaurant at the Sheraton. Visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy tasty Malaysian specialties everyday between noon and 3 p.m. and, again, between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. There will also be a raffle, which will provide two lucky winners with two economy-class return tickets from Frankfurt to Kuala Lumpur.

The organization of this festival was initiated by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and its main goal is to familiarize the Croatian public and the expatriate community with Malaysian culture and cuisine. According to the Malaysian Prime Minister, such events bring people closer together and make them understand each other much better, which is the road to greater harmony across the globe.
