The New “In” Restaurant at the City Centre

Towards the end of October, Zagreb gained yet another ultra-modern restaurant, which will surely become the new “in” place among the city population. The restaurant is located in the city centre, near the Cibona Tower, and it owes its name, Black Rock, to the red-hot volcanic rocks on top of which food is prepared. This is just one of the novelties that this restaurant offers.

Towards the end of October, another inventive restaurant emerged in Zagreb’s culinary scene to offer guests distinctive and original dishes. The Black Rock restaurant is located in the vicinity of the Cibona Tower, by the entrance to the Dražen Petrović Basketball Hall, and it was named after red-hot volcanic rocks on which guests can prepare their own meals.

This is the first restaurant of its type in Croatia, and it owes its contemporary and inventive image to the previously popularized namesake concept. The Black Rock concept of preparing food was invented in 2005 in Great Britain, after many restaurants sought new ways to attract guests. Their popularity quickly spread beyond British borders and the concept soon became an integral part of the gastronomic offers of many hotels, restaurants, and pubs worldwide.

The restaurant staff serves raw ingredients that the guests prepare themselves on top of a large black volcanic rock, heated to approximately 400 degrees Celsius. Food is prepared without oil or any other additives so guests can truly enjoy contemporary, not to mention healthy, cuisine. When you stone grill, food can be delivered to the table within five minutes of ordering so there is no waiting like in most restaurants; this is a guarantee by the head chef, Robert Slogar, who has proudly borne the title “The Golden Chef” of Croatia for five consecutive years.

Moreover, restaurant guests will also have the opportunity to taste indigenous Croatian produce, the quality of which is guaranteed by the “Original Croatian” brand. Orders can be placed until 1 a.m. so guests can enjoy a healthy and light late evening meal, against the backdrop of Latino music.
