The Orient Express Arrives in Zagreb

Between the 12th and 17th of June, plays that are part of the multi-cultural, European project “Orient Express” will be held in Zagreb’s main train station.
As a result of its membership in the European Theater Convention, the Zagreb Youth Theater will be partaking in this project with their play “Seven Days in Zagreb” which they will perform on a stage set up at the train station. The project involves theaters from six countries.

The Orient Express project was envisioned as a theater troupe, consisting of actors from all the countries that the Orient Express once passed through, which travels by rail along the track once used by the legendary train. The theater train began its journey in Ankara on May 18th and it will travel for two months, until July, when it reaches its final destination in Stuttgart. At every station in the capital cities along the old Orient Express route from Ankara to Stuttgart, the play from the host country, as well as that of the previous country, will be performed. Therefore, the Zagreb audience will have an opportunity to view the play “As If” performed by the members of the Serbian National Theater from Novi Sad, as well as the play “Seven Days in Zagreb” performed by actors from the Zagreb Youth Theater and, finally, the play “Ex-press” by the members of the Turkish National Theater of Ankara. After Zagreb, the train will continue on to Slovenia, where the members of the Zagreb Youth Theater will perform their play once again.
