The Royal Orchestra Concertgebouw Performs at Lisinski

After the performance by the renowned London Symphony Orchestra at the Zagreb Arena, the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall will feature a concert by the Royal Orchestra Concertgebouw from Amsterdam on October 6th.

The Royal Orchestra Concertgebouw from Amsterdam, the best orchestra in the world according to the British magazine Gramophone, will hold a concert on October 6th at the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall. This concert will open the 2009/2010 season in which audiences can expect numerous attractive programs. Soon after the performance of this great orchestra, on October 17th, there will also be a performance by the Sankt Petersburg Philharmonic led by Juri Terminkanov, and just a day later there will be a performance by the Orchestra and Choir of the Russian Chapel conducted by Vladimir Poljanski. Both orchestras will perform works by Russian composers.

One of the most magnificent contemporary singers, Cecilia Bartoli, accompanied by the orchestra of the La Scientilla Opera from Zurich, will present a program of Italian Baroque music to a Zagreb audience on March 21st. The new concert season will also feature performances by the Tonkünstler Orchestra from Austria, the Strasbourg Philharmonic, the Winterthur music college Orchestra, etc.
For all lovers of classical music, the Music Academy Ensemble will perform two concerts of Mozart’s “Magical Flute” and Prokofiev’s “Ivan the Terrible”. They will also mark the 130th anniversary of the birth of Josip Hatze, the piano duo Marshall and Janjanin will be celebrating their 25th anniversary, and the Croatian Baroque Ensemble will be marking its ten years of existence.

Apart from various concert cycles, audiences can expect an array of other treats, as well as an awards ceremony tied to “Saturdays at Lisinski”, and direct broadcasts of plays from New York’s Metropolitan Opera House. During one of these shows, two lucky audience members stand to win trips to a concert at one of the European opera houses. During the last broadcast, the winner of a trip to a show at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York will be announced.
