13th “Cest is d’Best”
More than 500 performers and street entertainers from around the globe will perform before audiences of half a million people at this year’s street festival “Cest is d’Best”, which is being organized for the 13th time in the streets and squares of Zagreb.
The largest street festival “Cest is d’Best” is being organized in Zagreb between the 4th and 14th of June. This year, it will take place for the 13th time, and will be organized at Jelačić and Flower Squares, Bogovićeva Street, Strossmayer’s promenade and Zrinjevac Park. Some 500 artists, performers and street entertainers will participate in the festival while, throughout the ten days, more than half a million people are expected to attend events on the streets of Zagreb. The whole event will be complemented by a handful of entertaining happenings and crazy sports competitions such as the slowest bike ride, a baby race and many more children’s programs. Representatives of political parties will compete in bowling, and the highlight of this year’s program will be a party organized by Zagreb’s eponymous street entertainers, the Street Kings.
The organizer of the “Cest is d’Best” festival is “Cestagram”, an association of street entertainers who have introduced some novelties into the program. Two public contests have preceded this year’s festival; one for the first festival flag, featuring the theme “The street and me”, while the other was for an urban, art installation in Zagreb.
The first “Cest is d’Best” festival was held in Zagreb in 1997. Ever since it has attracted growing audiences and has added a new attraction to the city’s tourism offer.
