Zagreb's Culture Factory: A Celebration of Jazz at the JazzHR Festival
The spring edition of the JazzHR Festival brings interesting concerts which will attract numerous jazz fans.
The mission of the JazzHR Festival, which has been taking place in Zagreb since 1991, is to gather Croatian and foreign jazz musicians in order to support jazz scene. In addition to individual jazz concerts, this project of the Croatian Composers’ Society is realized by holding two festival editions – spring and autumn.
This year’s spring edition will take place from 14 to 16 May during which time jazz lovers will be able to enjoy three interesting concerts at the Culture Factory. The first will take place on 14 May, when Mirna Bogdanović Group will perform, followed by Obradović&Tixier duo and a new name on the jazz scene Tilie. The performers come from Slovenia, Germany, Croatia, France and Hungary.
On 15 May, the following day, Maja Rivić Quintet from Croatia and Štěpánka Balcarová Quartet from the Czech Republic will perform on stage. The last concert is scheduled for 16 May and the performers are Nina Strnad Jazz Band from Slovenia, Thana Alexa from the US and Croatia and Niklouds from Austria.
Since 1991 until today, the JazzHR Festival, which has had several different names over the years, has welcomed as many as 2000 Croatian and foreign performers in its spring and autumn editions. Its concerts and cooperations of musicians successfully gather and unite jazz scene and strive to strengthen the emotion and activity of the jazz collective, as stressed by the organisers.
