A Documentary about Zagreb and Croatia
In late May, a crew from American Public Television shot footage in Zagreb for a 25 minute documentary about Croatia and its capital, which will soon be broadcast in the United States.
The American Public Television station will soon broadcast a 25 minute documentary about Croatia and its capital. The footage for this documentary was shot in Zagreb in late May by a four-member television crew led by known reporter Rick Steves. With him were also editor Cameron Hewitt, who had already visited Zagreb many times, as well as producer Simon Griffith and camera operator Karel Bauer.
The crew shot footage at famous city sites, beginning at the main square of Ban Josip Jelačić, moving across lively Tkalčićeva Street littered with bars and restaurants, on to St. Mark’s Square and the inspirational Museum of Naive Art… Throughout the shoot, none of the crew members could hide their exhilaration about the beautiful streets and squares of Zagreb, as well as the lifestyle of its population. Although he had visited Zagreb many times before, fascinated with the city, Cameron Hewitt said, “Zagreb is a real metropolis and it feels busy but, apart from the usual rush, it also leaves the impression of a city whose people know how to relax and enjoy their coffees on one of the numerous bar terraces…That is a perfect combination.” All of these scenes will soon be broadcast to the wide audience of American Public Television. Guests from the American market are the second most frequent visitors to Zagreb.
Apart from Zagreb, the American TV crew also visited the Plitvice Lakes, Motovun, Rovinj, Split, Dubrovnik, and the islands of Hvar and Korčula.
