Show Queen Trophy Races: the World’s Best Skiers in Zagreb!
This year once again, right after New Year’s Eve celebrations with holidays spirit still alive, Zagreb is expecting some of the world’s best skiers. They rank the Snow Queen Trophy among favourite races of the FIS Ski World Cup.
From 3 to 6 January, Zagreb’s Sljeme will welcome the Snow Queen Trophy women’s race for the fourteenth time and men’s race for the eleventh time, both of which are part of AUDI FIS Ski World Cup.
Around 200 best slalom skiers from 25 countries are expected to attend, as well as more than 400 members of their teams. The Snow Queen Trophy competition will start in the evening of 3 January with a public draw of starting numbers for the women’s race on Ice Park’s ice rink in King Tomislav Square. The next day the schedule for men’s race will become known in another draw. Owing to the holiday spirit in the city, the draw itself is an attraction, both for skiers and visitors but for citizens of Zagreb as well.
Women’s slalom race will take place on Sljeme on 4 January and men’s race on 5 January. The event is famous for excellent atmosphere and cheering that are always an additional encouragement for skiers.
The reputation of the races on Sljeme is proven by the fact that they were admitted to the Club5 Ski Classics, which gathers the best traditional organisers of the World Cup races.
