Summer in Kino Europa – a refreshing oasis of film
Lovers of good film can dive into a comfortable armchair at Kino Europa from 29 June to 2 September and give themselves up to waves of cinematic refreshment from the big screen.
This year’s summer programme “You’ve missed it, watch it!” brings us over 80 film titles which were shown over the year in the cinema’s regular programme, as well as a handful of new ones. Over the whole summer there is also Kino Bibijada which every Wednesday and Sunday brings us free screenings for the little ones. Something special which will certainly be attractive for tourists is the fact that Kino Europa, twice a week during the summer, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, will have screenings with English subtitles.
Hits of European cinematography such as “Toni Erdmann” will be part of the summer programme. The American cinema scene will be represented by, among others, the Oscar-winning “Moonlight”, “Paterson” from cult New York director Jim Jarmusch, “Neon Demon” by Nicolas Winding Refn, “Snowden” by Oscar-winner Oliver Stone… there is also “The Salesman” by AsgharFarhadi, “I, Daniel Blake” by Ken Loach and“It’s Only the End of the World” by Xavier Dolan.
On the programme are also Croatian films such as “Quit Staring at My Plate” - “Ne gledaj mi u pijat” by young director Hana Jušić, who won the FEDEORA award for the best European film at the Mostra awards in Venice. In the summer months the cinema will also have its regular delivery of films with a few new titles: “Tschick”, “The Young Karl Marx” and“The Stylist”. There is also “Sweet Dreams” from award-winning director Marco Bellochio, the Polish drama “The United States of Love” and “The History of Love”, the screen version of the novel by American writer Nicole Krauss.
