The Ilica Project – the Readymade Ilica Festival
For the first time, in five locations on Ilica, from 5 to 12 May the Readymade Ilica Festival will be held.
This is the first programme of the Ilica Project, which has been running for some years now, with the aim of revitalizing microlations on Ilica through a synergy of culture with creative industries. The Ilica Project aims to invent new usage models for currently abandoned and unused spaces on Ilica, and to reinvent the role of the main street running through the centre of Zagreb, to preserve its manufacturing workshops and maintain and create cultural content on one of the longest and oldest streets in Zagreb which has more than 500 properties on it. The stretch between Frankopanska ulica, over Britanski trg and all the way to Trg Franje Tuđmana is the centre of focus for the first phase of researching Ilica. The Festival will through cultural content, walks, interactions, educational workshops, lectures, presentations and social culture close to the locality affirm in the community a new era in Ilica’s rich cultural life using innovative tools, new technologies and material for communications. The Festival officially opens on Friday 5 May at 7 pm with the exhibition “Made on Ilica” by the OAZA designers’ collective.
