Zagreb is among the 10 most attractive destinations for young travellers
The American guide Off Track Planet has included Zagreb on this year's list of the top ten most attractive destinations for young travellers in the world. The authors describe the city as a place where one can party until exhaustion at budget prices.
The popular American guide Off Track Planet, which is intended for young travellers and backpackers, included Zagreb on this year’s list of the most attractive destinations in the world. For the fourth consecutive year, Off Track Planet has compiled a list of the top ten destinations that are worth a visit. The selection criteria depend primarily on the destination’s entertainment offer and the cost of stay, i.e. average drink prices. Zagreb has been described as “the place to hit” if you want to party until exhaustion, see numerous landmarks and not spend too much money.
The authors have clearly researched the city well, as they mention that Zagreb is tightly packed with bars and restaurants. They have even compiled a list of the ten best places to party with the locals. Judging by the conclusion that most clubs work around the clock, the authors seem to have had a great time in Zagreb.
Since the young have other interests besides just nightlife, Zagreb is on the list for its other assets as well. Its architecture is enthralling because it is a pleasant mix of old and modern, and as a typically central-European city it greatly resembles Prague, which is also a popular destination with many young tourists from all over the world.
Such a high ranking of Zagreb on the popularity list is evidence that tourists have recognized the efforts which have been undertaken to make Zagreb a hit destination for the young. The Zagreb Tourist Board has played a big role in this by creating many new events and entertainment programmes.
Many of these original programmes take place almost every day, so tourists have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the city through interesting guided tours and stories of its traditions, history, as well as modern life. During the same period, numerous new museums, clubs and hostels have opened, and some of them, such as the Museum of Broken Relationships, which was voted the most inventive European museum of last year, have already gained fame of global proportions.
Apart from Zagreb, the list includes Chiapas in Mexico, Turin in northern Italy, the Central Anatolia region in Turkey, the Romanian capital Bucharest, Interlaken in Switzerland, the Senegalese capital Dakar, Big Corn Island in Nicaragua, Cricova in Moldavia, and Ushuaia in Argentina.
