An exhibition of portraits of distinguished Croats and Europeans
After a succession of interesting exhibitions at the Croatian Historic Museum, an exhibition of portraits of distinguished persons from Croatia’s and Europe’s past will remain open until September 27th. These portraits make up the largest part of the prints in the museum’s holdings.

These portraits make up the largest part of the prints in the museum’s holdings. Since the museum does not have the room to have all of its collections on permanent display, the series of exhibitions it has been organizing allows visitors an insight into its rich historical holdings.
There are some 5,500 works in the Croatian Historic Museum’s collection of prints, most of which are portraits of distinguished persons from Croatia’s and Europe’s past. More than 200 portraits, made using different techniques including wood carving, copper carving, lithography and oleography, and created around Europe between the 16th and 20th centuries, have been selected for this exhibition. The most significant among the exhibited works are the portraits of French Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte, Austro-Hungarian Emperor Franz Joseph, as well as numerous distinguished persons from Croatia’s past, such as Nikola Zrinski of Siget, Nikola and Petar Zrinski, as well as great Croatian painters Menci Klement Crnčić, Tomislav Krizman, etc.
